Our Quick Trip to Cali
Owen is OBSESSED with rollercoasters. We recorded one of those rollercoaster shows from the Travel Channel and he loves watching it. I have been bugging Shad about going to Disneyland for quite some time. Once we found out Owen was tall enough to go on all the rides that was enough to convince Shad that we should go.
We haven't been in a long time. For me the last time I went was for High School Graduation ... yeah, like I said, a LONG time. So we made a quick trip to CA while Riley was here for summer break. Lindy and Jonathan were kind enough to let us stay with them and watch Nya for us while at Disneyland.
We had a great time! Owen LOVED all the rides. He is so funny though -shows no emotion right before or during the rides. He has a completely straight face. I think his favorite one may have been the Matterhorn. He kept saying "This animal going to get you?" referring to the Yeti. My favorite quote from Owen was after Space Mountain. He said "We are NOT doing that again!" but a few minutes later was talking excitedly about all the rockets and stars. When we looked at our picture it was hilarious! All of us had intense looks on our faces and he looked very somber -like he was at a funeral or something ... just no expression.

The next day Grandma Nez and Grandpa Doug made it down to join our party. Our plan was to go hang out at the beach, but it kept getting delayed. By the time we got there, it was pretty cold and dinner time. The kids played in the sand and Nya loved the water, but as soon as she got cold she was outa there. She was so grumpy but soon Lindy and Jonathan saved the day with some yummy pizza. Then she was happy as a clam (no pun intended, ok it was).

A Fabulous Fourth!
We decided to stay home again this year for the 4th of July celebration. Janel and Ty joined us as well as the Ethington Family. We BBQed and watched the Schnepf fireworks from our front yard. It was a lot of fun and not too stressful. Charlie tuned into the channel that was playing the music that went along to the fireworks which was way cool and Owen commentated the whole show. He wanted to make sure we knew what color each firework was and how big.
It was a great night.
